Overview

Prior to the Arc Point intervention, this STEM Magnet High School was struggling with a cycle of mediocrity, fluctuating between "B" and "C" ratings over several years. The traditional high school was significantly under-enrolled, failing to attract and retain students in a competitive educational landscape.

The Challenge

The challenge was to drive elite performance within a highly diverse and high-need student population:

  • A High-Need Demographic: The student body was comprised of 93.2% Hispanic and Black minoritized students and 67.5% economically disadvantaged students.
  • Diverse Learner Profiles: The school served 17.9% English Language Learners (ELL) and 13.9% students with disabilities (SWD).

The Capacity Gap: While the school offered STEM focused electives, it lacked the integrated 4-year alignment and industry-credential sequencing required to turn "potential" into "proficiency".

NovaTech’s Arc Point Pathways branch stepped in to solve the complexity of the 9–12 experience. We moved beyond "general STEM offerings" to design rigorous, industry-aligned pathways in Financial Technologies, Cybersecurity, Forensic Science, Digital Marketing, and Information Systems Technology.

  • 4-Year Course Alignment: Mapping progression from grade 9 through graduation to ensure seamless skill development.

Immediate shift in performance

The implementation of the Arc Point framework resulted in an immediate and dramatic shift in every key performance metric within the first two years of implementation:

  • The Ascension to "A" Status: After years of B/C stagnation, the school achieved an "A" rating for the 2023-2024 school year, 
  • Explosive Proficiency Gains: Science proficiency increased by 34.8%.
  • Minority Group Performance Maximized: Black student proficiency increased by 30.9% - ELA; 28% - Math; and 56.2% - Science.
  • Enhanced Student Education: through AP and dual enrollment courses, workplace internships, and industry certifications 
  • Industry Certification Mastery: The number of industry certifications earned by students in the first two years alone was 542.
  • Universal Graduation Success: The graduation rate reached a near-perfect 99.4%.
